Graduate Engineer Programme FAQs

When do applications close?

Applications for the Projective Graduate Engineer Programme close on 4 May 2026. We recommend applying as early as possible to ensure your application can be fully reviewed.

What does the recruitment process involve?

The recruitment process includes an initial application review; shortlisted candidates will first have a phone/teams interview followed by assessments and a face-to-face interview taking place across June 2026. The process is designed to be engaging, supportive and reflective of the type of work you would do as a graduate engineer at Projective.

When will the Graduate Engineer Programme start?

Successful candidates will join Projective from September 2026 onwards, aligning with the academic calendar and allowing graduates to complete their studies before starting their engineering careers. However, we may offer flexibility for earlier start dates, please highlight this in your application and it can be discussed during the recruitment process.

Who is the Graduate Engineer Programme for?

The programme is designed for engineering graduates who are motivated, curious and keen to apply their knowledge in real‑world environments. It is ideal for graduates who want hands‑on experience, close mentorship and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful engineering projects from day one.

What kind of engineering experience will I gain?

Graduate engineers gain exposure across the full engineering project lifecycle, including concept and consulting, design and engineering, delivery and implementation, and commissioning and support. You’ll work on live projects supporting utilities and facilities for modern manufacturing environments, rather than isolated or purely theoretical tasks. This could include projects such as retrofitting heat pumps to decarbonise thermal systems, developing utility masterplans for major manufacturing sites, integrating battery storage with solar PV, upgrading water and wastewater treatment systems, or supporting wider electrification and infrastructure improvement programmes.

Will I be supported and mentored as a graduate?

Yes. Close mentorship and structured development are central to Projective’s Graduate Engineer Programme. Upon joining, you will be paired with a dedicated mentor for the first part of your career. Graduates work alongside a range of experienced engineers and subject matter experts who are invested in supporting your development, helping you build confidence, capability and professional judgement.

Will I work with real clients and projects?

Absolutely. Graduate engineers are involved in live client projects from early in the programme. This provides valuable insight into real operating environments and allows you to see how engineering decisions translate into real‑world outcomes. You will have the opportunity to contribute to projects for some of the world’s most recognised manufacturing businesses, supporting everything from decarbonisation and new technology assessments to engineering design and build delivery. We encourage our graduates to get experience on site visits at client sites early in their development.

What sectors does Projective work in?

Projective supports clients operating in pharmaceutical, food & beverage, FMCG and advanced manufacturing sectors, giving graduates exposure to highly regulated and technically demanding environments.

Is the Graduate Engineer Programme suitable for long‑term career development?

Yes. The programme is designed to provide a strong foundation for long‑term engineering careers. Through structured development, mentoring and progressive responsibility, graduates are supported as they grow into confident engineers within Projective. We support our Graduates on their career path to become a Chartered Engineer with their relevant institute, and can offer future career opportunities within Engineering Design, Project Management, Sustainability, HVAC and leadership.

How do I apply for the Graduate Engineer Programme?

You can apply via the Graduate Engineer Programme application page. You’ll be asked to submit your CV and supporting information outlining your interest in engineering and in building your career at Projective.

What is the culture and social side of Projective like?

Projective has a collaborative and supportive culture, where graduates are encouraged to learn, contribute and feel part of the team from the start. Alongside project work, there are also opportunities to get involved in social events, which in the past have included our Christmas party, paintballing, social darts and a company trip to Italy for Projective’s 20th anniversary.
